Support » Theme: Sonar » Menu Customization in Sonar

  • Hello all, I am looking to customize the menu in the Sonar theme further than what is allowed in the options. I want to add a background image to the hover property, as well as rounded corners. I know I have to edit the stylesheet, but everything I’ve tried thus far has been unsuccessful. Here’s a link to my site. Here is what I currently have in my stylesheet regarding the menu:

    /* =Menu
    ————————————————————– */

    #access {
    /* fallback for web browsers that don’t support RGBa */
    background: rgb(0, 0, 0);
    /* RGBa with 0.35 opacity */
    background: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.35);
    display: block;
    margin: 0 auto;
    float: left;
    width: 100%;
    }
    #access .menu-header,
    div.menu {
    font-size: 13px;
    font-weight: bold;
    margin: 0 auto;
    width: 1000px;
    }
    #access .menu-header ul,
    div.menu ul {
    list-style: none;
    margin: 0;
    }
    #access .menu-header li,
    div.menu li {
    float: left;
    position: relative;
    }
    #access a {
    color: #aaa;
    display: block;
    line-height: 38px;
    /* Fix up padding if NOT using SuperFish in sonar-custom-header.php */
    text-decoration: none;
    }
    #access ul ul {
    box-shadow: 0px 3px 3px rgba(0,0,0,0.2);
    -moz-box-shadow: 0px 3px 3px rgba(0,0,0,0.2);
    -webkit-box-shadow: 0px 3px 3px rgba(0,0,0,0.2);
    display: none;
    position: absolute;
    top: 38px;
    left: 0;
    float: left;
    width: 180px;
    z-index: 99999;
    }
    #access ul ul li {
    min-width: 180px;
    }
    #access ul ul ul {
    left: 100%;
    top: 0;
    }
    #access ul ul a {
    background: #444;
    line-height: 1em;
    padding: 10px;
    width: 160px;
    height: auto;
    }
    #access li:hover > a,
    #access ul ul :hover > a {
    background: #333;
    color: #fff;
    }
    #access ul li:hover > ul {
    display: block;
    }
    #access ul li.current_page_item > a,
    #access ul li.current-menu-ancestor > a,
    #access ul li.current-menu-item > a,
    #access ul li.current-menu-parent > a {
    color: #53A4E6;
    }
    * html #access ul li.current_page_item a,
    * html #access ul li.current-menu-ancestor a,
    * html #access ul li.current-menu-item a,
    * html #access ul li.current-menu-parent a,
    * html #access ul li a:hover {
    color: #fff;
    }

    If anyone would be kind enough to tell me exactly what I need to edit in order to make this happen, it would be much appreciated! Thank you!

  • Don’t need to post your stylesheet–we can get that from the link. 🙂

    Try changing this line within your CSS file to something like:

    #access li:hover > a, #access ul ul *:hover > a {
       background-image:url('http://url-to-your-file.png');
       border-radius: 10px;
       color: #F2AE9B;
    }

    What Sixhours posted should work for you but you should do all your CSS changes in Sonar Advanced options so that when you upgrade to a new version your style changes will not be erased.

    Hi brad how to add “read more” button in sonar theme?like your site do.does it use plugin?it doesn’t appear automatically appear on my post,nor i can’t find the setting on sonar options page
