If I understand, you need to have switched it on in
dashboard>settings>topic/reply display item 13, so simply uncheck that !

Sorry for the confusion.
When I was having problems with no nicknames showing up, i assumed that your plugin had automatically have Mentions turned on and that was why i thought i was getting the plugin conflict.
But after your message I realised that this was not the case.
I have now found that when typing a Nickname, to start a Mention, there is no list of users coming up, to assist the user to find the correct Mention.
