I took a quick scan of Foxy theme, and didn’t see any special feature to do what you want. So think of this theme as only eye candy. (Note I only scanned the features listed on the theme’s sales page. I’ve not used it before).
If you’d like to use WooCommerce, note you’ll need a subscription add-on to do the membership thing, as Woocommerce doesn’t do subscription and recurrent billing natively.
But seriously, if all products are digital / informational, I’d do things differently
1) I’d set up a funnel / landing page to offer the free product as a lead magnet. People will just enter email address (and maybe first name) to receive the free product as email attachment (or a link to download on website). No shopping cart complication here, and by capturing the email address, I can market to them over and over in the future
2) I’d use a membership plugin to set up the monthly subscription. Woocommerce is bloated enough, and bolting on another addon is just too much work… if all I want to have is a membership subscription with no shipping, inventory management, etc.
3) In your case, you’d set up a trial subscription of $1 for X days (eg 30 days), and charge whatever you want every month after the X days trial period.

Thanks for your reply. I am aware that Foxy does not have any special feature. I already have this theme so planned to use it, would you suggest some other theme?
The free product is not digital, its a small gift item that we are offering if user pays for shipping.
The second up sell item would be $1 and would come bundled with membership that would be billed after the first month.
I have tried out the simple subscription plugin too.
In this case I think woocommerce would be the way to go or would you suggest using the subscription plugin or both (woo + subscription) ?
