    Hello,
I am having a problem with a pop up that a plugin left behind. I installed a plugin “Members Only” and found that it sort of took over the site after activation, before I even had a chance to configure what I wanted it to do. I went into it’s features and un-checked everything it had checked. However, the pop up still is still showing up and asking for a “login”. Quote:Authentication Required
A username and password are being requested by http://unite-to-write.org. the site says: “WP-files”

If I clicked Cancel, it will go away, however it disables all user images within the site. I can only see linked Images that I have within a folder other than WP on my server.

So needless to say -I deactivated it. Again, it was still popping up. So I went in and removed it from my Cpanel within my server. It didn’t work. It is still popping up. My server stated it has to do with Your end here at WP.org Could someone please help me get rid of this pop up.

I just had the same problem. I fixed it by doing the following:

Go to the root directory of your WordPress site. Go to wp-content/uploads/ and remove the .htaccess file.

I can’t thank you enough _douglaseberger_ That worked. And I also found the plugin that caused the problem. It was _User Access Manager – 0.9.1.2_ I know for sure because I tried activating it again and the same thing happened again. Again -Thank you very much!

Note: It was not the _Members Only_ Plugin it was _User Access Manager – 0.9.1.2_ that caused it.

I am having a problem when trying to insert and image using the media buttons above the WYSIWYG. Once clicked, no matter which media insert button, the pop-up appears but says

“Are you sure you want to do this?
    Please try again.”

When you click try again, a new window appears in the pop-up window of the post again. Any insight on how to fix this issue??

    Thanks in advance.

I also thank you very much douglaseberger. It was User Access Manager in deed that caused this. It’s even specified in the description of this plugin in the Manage Plugins page. It says:

Note: If you activate the plugin your upload dir will protect by a ‘.htaccess’ with a random password and all old media files insert in a previous post/page will not work anymore. You have to update your posts/pages. If you use already a ‘.htaccess’ file to protect your files the plugin will overwrite the ‘.htaccess’. You can disabel the file locking and set up an other password for the ‘.htaccess’ file at the UAM setting page.

By the way, did any of you find a better plugin to restrict certain category posts only for registered users? I want that any visitor, when they go to a specific category page to be able to see the posts titles and maybe their excerpts or the text before the more tag, but to ask them to login or register if they want to see the whole post.
