[Resolved] MediaCreeper plugin naming

  • Hi, I’m the author of MediaCreeper.com site, I like your effort with this plug in for WordPress! There is a few things I’d like you to do — change the name of your plugin to something else like “MediaCreeper Stats for WordPress” or similar and also your username on WP Plugins to something else as you do not represent the MediaCreeper site.

    Otherwise you’re doing a great job! 🙂

Hi Christopher, thanks for reaching out!

In retrospect I agree “MediaCreeper Stats” would’ve been a better choice (“for WordPress” is not allowed per the guidelines). Unfortunately it’s not possible to rename a plugin after it’s been published.
The same goes for WordPress.org profiles; it’s neither possible to rename nor delete a WordPress.org profile once it’s been created (sorry, otherwise I’d be happy to rename).

FWIW, there are multiple links back to the MediaCreeper.com site in the plugin interface, the description/readme aswell as the FAQ. So really, I don’t believe this plugin is “infringing” in any way on your (non-trademarked) service. I will however attempt to make it more clear that the plugin is not an official MediaCreeper.com project in a future update.

While this probably isn’t the answer you were looking for, please let me assure you the plugin was written with the best intentions, all in good faith. I also believe its existence as a WordPress plugin will be beneficial to your service (after all, that’s what public APIs are for, right? 🙂

I’m going to make this topic as resolved as there’s not much more I can do about the situation. If you’re not happy with the answer or feel like you want to discuss this further, feel free to drop me an email.

    wbr, Martin.
