When I upload media through the wp-admin top or side menu controls, it is being stored in the wrong date folder. When I upload from within a post it goes to the correct (current month) date folder. Menu settings are correct and it is new media so it’s not just trying to find a home in an old post.
I’ve tried it in two different sites running Give WP (both hosted on Dreamhost). Deactivating the plugin makes the bug go away. Anybody else experiencing this? Any clue on how to fix it?

What date does it upload to when you’re NOT in a post?

On one site it goes to the 9/2017 folder, on the other 12/2017.

The only plugin these sites share in common is Give WP, and in both cases, disabling it corrects the issue.

If others aren’t experiencing it, though, then I am well and truly baffled.

Hey @mbrowncap – We haven’t had any reports of this and our media uploader just uses the standard built in WordPress one. We’re not doing anything to save to any different non-WP default directories like you see with WooCommerce or other eCommerce platforms. I’m not sure what could be the conflict outside another plugin or theme setting.

Ok. It is very helpful to know others are not experiencing it. I’ll follow up with my host and test on a local server to see if I can find the culprit.

UPDATE – I still don’t know exactly what’s conflicting with what, but after learning a bit more about Unix Timestamps, I was able to trace the issue back to the _edit_lock value in the give_formmeta table in my database. Changing the published dates of my Give forms to the current month has gotten the media upload to function correctly again on my sites.
Again, not sure if this is long term solution or just a workaround where I’ll have to update the published dates each month, but at least for now things are back in working order.

I’m having the same issue. I switched to multisite and just noticed this as well.

If I upload media through the Media->Library->Add new, they are uploaded into the wrong year/month directory. Specifically they are uploaded into the directory with the year/month of when my donation forms were created.

If I disable all give plugins, the issue goes away.

If I change the publish date of all donation forms on a site, then uploads in that site go into the year/month of the new publish date.

@pineapplejuice I’m trying to validate how to reproduce this on my end:

    1. Create a Multisite install
    2. Install Give
    3. Network activated Give across all sites (please confirm)
    4. Create a donation form on two or more sites and back date them to a month in 2017
    5. Upload media using standard media > Add new on any subsite
    6. That media is uploaded to incorrect folder using date from donation form created in step 4.

    Is that correct?

@dlocc I did some more digging, I think this may not be multisite related, but happened after upgrade to Give 2.0.

I just coincidently noticed this since I’m converting to multisite for which I used my production setup and DB as base. (Otherwise your steps are correct)

Checking on my production system, which is still single install, I see that it has the same problem. Looking at the dates of the last correct image upload, it is just the day before I updated to give 2.0.

Hence I suspect it must have been the update to give 2.0. On my production I’m now running give 2.0.2, which still has this issue. On my stage I’m running give 2.0.4 which also exhibits this behavior.

I’m not sure how to solve this now…

@pineapplejuice can you provide a screenshot of your WordPress General settings? I have a feeling this is related to your local time settings and/or locale.

Hey @pineapplejuice – I was able to reproduce this bug and created an issue for it here: https://github.com/WordImpress/Give/issues/2830 We’re going to fix it asap and have it out for the next release. I appreciate you being helpful while we work through discovering the issue.

Awesome! Thanks @dlocc and @pineapplejuice, glad to see this heading toward a long-term fix.
