Support » Fixing WordPress » Media Upload & Permalinks Problem

  • Hi All

Just switched to a new hosting provider and migrated my worpress site which sits at root level of the domain . All works except a permalink issue an error when I upload media as follows

“image.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error
The uploaded file could not be moved to /u0/webroot/virtual/

changed permissions on /wp-content & /wp-content/uploads/ to 777 but no joy.

The hosting provider has a prefix to the path seems to be confusing thinks “/u0/webroot/virtual”

Also my permalinks settings only work on Default , causes a 404 error if changes to anything else.

    Any idea’s

  • Wee update on this . The hosting guys changed the settings on folder ownership of wp-content and below to Apache and this with the 777 permisson change fixed the media upload issue .

However permalinks remain a problem and it only works if I stay on default and would like to change it to “Custom Structure” /%category%/%postname%/
