Support » Fixing WordPress » Media upload failure

  • Hi there,

Uploading media for a post either by selecting image for upload or by dragging into upload panel from file manager results in HTTP failure 90% of the time.

The folder has been set to 744, 755 and 777 with no improvement. This hosting account successfully runs image galleries, web based email with file attachments and more with no issue. I have tried both latest Firefox and Chrome on Debian. Adblock and VPN plugins were disabled. The only script that has a problem uploading files via a web interface is WP.

Any solutions or alternative media management plugin suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for your time!

  • Following these steps should solve your problem:

    1) Log into your cPanel dashboard.
    2) Using the file manager, navigate to your WordPress site’s root directory.
    3) Locate and open the .htaccess file for editing.
    4) Add the following line of code at the top of the file:
    6) Save the changes to the .htaccess file.

If you are not using a cPanel based host skip to step 3 and look for the .htaccess file in your websites root directory.
