• Suddenly I am unable to upload media files and I keep getting an error message as follows -“splot page 6.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/2013/09.

The images are 370KB jpegs files. Can you please help me with a resolution?

  • In random order:

    • check [web dashboard of your webhost] if there is enough storagespace to upload more files
    • check using FTP if the ../wp-content/uploads folder has the required propperties, allowing for access and reading and writing to both the folder and all subfolders >> FTP > right-click the uploads-folder > file propperties > The set the numerical value to 755 > tick box to apply to sub-folders and files > OK to save
    • occasionally it’s an update or plugin that causes these problems [see below]
    1. Use FTP to access your site
      bv. http://filezilla-project.org/download.php
    2. rename all plugins by putting a ‘0’ in front of each plugin -folder;
      ../wp-content/plugins
    3. Check if the access / ‘normal functioning’ has been restored
    4. If so: one-by-one, remove the ‘0’, checking every time to see if the problem re-occurs.
    5. when the problem re-occurs, you’ve found the source of the problem; Delete and find a similar plugin that works with your site
    6. alternatively: FTP:Delete; Then download and install / activate a NEW version of the problematic plugin and see if this works.

    Alternatively:
Instead of ftp, use the webaccess dashboard functions provided by the webhost.
This usually is not as versatile and more cumbersome.

Sounds like it is not you. maybe a provider or network problem. How many have you uploaded.

Ok hope it is a network problem or provider issue. I have 25 images in the library and I know I should be bale to add more.

I’ll look into the other solutions put forward but it might be beyond my capability, as I am new to using word press.

    Thanks!
