    Our site uses a child version of twentyeleven, and a lovely slideshow plugin called Riva Slider Pro which isn’t yet responsive (I’m thinking specifically for mobiles). The slideshow is used extensively throughout the site.

    So at the moment, the slideshow seems to be a fixed size. It’s ok (but not perfect) on an iPad. But on a small device (I have an iPhone) the slideshow is massive and wrecks the entire site.

    So I’m wanting to use a media query to help make the mobile version of the site a bit more palatable.

    Any idea why the following isn’t working… or what might be a better alternative?

    @media screen and (max-device-width: 1000px) {
    .riva-slider-holder div, .riva-slider-holder ul, .riva-slider-holder .riva-slider li, .riva-slider-holder span, .riva-slider-holder a, .riva-slider-holder img, .riva-slider-holder iframe {
        max-width: 50% !important;
        max-height: 50% !important;
