  • hi !

I have many medias/files/documents in different folders like
    public_html/media/PDF,
    public_html/media/audio,
    public_html/media/video,
    public_html/media/images

I used to use them with Joomla.
now I need a plugin that allows me to use these files with WordPress.

is there already a solution for that ?

heard that MediaTags can help with managing the files,
but I intend to use it only if I don’t find a better solution, that is, a plugin that allows me to have different kinds of files in different folders.

I think this should be a major issue for WP.
it is very annoying to have zillions of different kinds of files
    in the same folder.

    thanks in advance, Isaac.

  • I suppose the question is: what are these files for? Are they to be accessed by just you and the website or will they be available for public downloads as well?

    thanks for the comments, flick.

the files will be available for public download.
they are related to sermon audios, articles and other documents.

in my humble opinion, it should be a major issue for WP to solve.
it is very annoying to have thousands of files (of different types)
in the same folder. and I believe many experience the same.

is there a solution or alternative for that ?

    thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the info!

If you’re going to make them all available for download, I would suggest using something like Download Monitor (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/download-monitor/) which will allow you to place the files pretty much how you want them and it’s just a matter of browsing for them in the file directory when setting up the download link or you could use the same plugin to manage your uploads: it helps with keeping track of no. of downloads etc. as well.
