Support » Fixing WordPress » Media Library not reading some images/featured images broken entirely

After upgrading to 3.4.1 I am unable to get my media library to read some files.

They appear either like this as broken links or like this. Both of which load just fine if I navigate to their direct link. WordPress just seems unable to do so with some files.

All of these files are located in my default wp-content/uploads folder and they all load just fine through FTP.

    What should I do?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

Neither deactivating all of my plugins nor switching to a fresh install of the Twenty Eleven theme fixed the issue.

Strange. You can’t upload an image without a name. Can you post your site url?

I fixed this issue by replacing my recent posts widget and auto thumbnail creator with new ones that are compatible with 3.4.1
