• When I use the “Add New” in the Media Library and select a .gif file on my PC using either the flash uploader or browser uploader it says it uploads the file to: [website]/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/filename.gif but it won’t display any image in the media library. I can see the image in the post preview while editing it, but when I publish it, it does not appear.

When I look at my FTP, I can see it actually uploaded the file to: [website]/wordpress/wp-content/filename.gif and
    [website]/wordpress/wp-content/filename-150×33.gif
…but still nothing is put in the /uploads/ folder… The only way I can get it to work is by editing the html tag and specifying an absolute path to where I placed the image on the server thereby entirely bypassing the media library.

…I have tried to switch back to the standard theme just in case, but the same error occurs… ???

What do you have set as your upload folder in the media settings section?

Also, you may want to try turning off some plugins.
