• Hi all,
I have an existing WP site and for various reasons have rebuilt it locally using Desktop Server
So I exported everything from my live site say http://www.mysitelive to new local site say http://www.mysitelocal using WP import export
Images obviously did not come across in the xml file which makes sense
First question – is it possible to export everything including media files and import into new site?

Because I could not find any information about that I thought I would be smart and eventually copied the images in their yearly/monthly dated folders from the live site from wpcontent/uploads/2013 and wpcontent/uploads/2014 to the same location in my new local site
In the new local site the images show up when I look at the pages but the images are not in the Media Library
Is there a way to fix this or must delete those folders and upload all media files manually
I have lots of images, pdfs, couple of videos etc

    Ta
    Darrell

Yes – if you included all attachments when creating the import file and if the old site is can be accessed by the new site at the time of the import. The images can the be copied over during the import process.

Sounds like you did not include all attachments when creating the import file. This means that all calls to images are actually pointing back to the old site.

How do I select all attachments?
