Media Librairy – SOME images not appearing

    I’m new to WordPress, so excuse my n00b-ness here. I’m a photographer and I’m trying to build a photography website with the Uncode template I just purchased.

    I’m confused because I upload images to the media library and SOME appear with a thumbnail and others do not. The images that appear with a thumbnail in the media section I can use in my layout, no problem. The other images, that only have a blank square instead of a thumbnail, I seem to be able to “point” to them when I’m building a slider on pages of the site, but nothing appears in the layout.

    I have checked that all images are saved as jpeg, 72dpi, saved for web.

    I think what confuses me the most is that is works for some and it doesn’t for others, and I don’t know WHAT the secret is…

    I am currently building the site locally with XAMPP – could this be it?

    Depends on the limitations of XAMPP you configured. What you can try to do is click the thumbnails in your media library (any) and you will get a new page where you can see the location of the uploaded image. That usually unveils a pattern in which images can and couldn’t be saved (hence the blank thumbnail). Size limitation for example (KBs wise I mean) and/or file extensions.

    URLs are exactly the same for both.

    On the image that have a thumbnail, when I click, I see a full preview of the image with the “edit” button below. On images that did not successfully upload there is no preview, but there is the “edit” button. And once I click on the edit button I can see a smaller version of my photo with very basic options for rotating and such.

    If I follow the URL of the images that I don’t see the thumbnail. I CAN see the image in my browser.
