Support » Plugin: WP Original Media Path » Media fields disappear when plugin is removed

  • Resolved GermanKiwi

Hi, this is a great plugin, and it correctly adds the two missing fields to the Media Settings page, but I’ve just discovered that when I disable and remove the plugin afterwards (even after I entered a path into those two fields), the two fields disappear again after the plugin is removed.

When I look in the SQL database afterwards, using phpMyAdmin, I can see that the two fields there are empty:

So for some reason the plugin isn’t actually saving the field values into the database. The field values stay there when the plugin is activated, but they disappear when the plugin is removed. 🙁

    Can this be fixed please?

Heloo @ GermanKiwi this feature was previously active.
Unfortunately many users had difficulties to ‘understand’ the uninstall process.
Since version 1.2.0, I added the removal of fields disabling the plugin makes the work easier for the users.

For your problem, just leave the plugin active.
Do not worry, it will not eat your resources, since it works only on / off.

So the plugin actually removes those two fields from the database, when you uninstall the plugin? I think that’s kind of strange!

Also, your description at is confusing in this case. It says there, “Once completed, you can disable the plug-in and remove it.” This implies that I can safely remove the plugin after I have edited the two fields, and the fields will still remain. It doesn’t tell me that the plugin will delete the fields again from the database after it’s removed.

Maybe you can add an option to this plugin, to let the admin decide if he wants the plugin to delete those fields from the database or not, when the plugin is uninstalled. I’m sure some admins would prefer for the fields to stay in the database, even after the plugin is gone. 🙂

    ooops !!!

I actually just saw that in the text I mentioned to disable the plugin.
    I’ll fix that.

Regarding the option for the saved fields, I understand.
But as I did not want to make a big plugin with a lot of options increases the database, etc …

I preferred to make the most simple and easiest way to uninstall.

In your case, you just leave the active plugin and I will now change the text on the site.

    Hi @germankiwi
    You will be happy!
The new version 1.3.0 fixes the problem uninstalling the plugin since version 1.2.0.

I look forward to your return experience.
