• I started making my site using the twentythirteen parent theme before I was aware of the significance of a child theme. I was able to upload media (images) fine while using the parent theme. Now that I have the twentythirteen-child theme I receive the error:

Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2014/01. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Before I receive this link http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_File_Permissions#Using_an_FTP_Client in an attempt at assistance, know that I’ve tried following changing the permission settings through my FTP client (Filezilla, which currently ‘cant connect to server’). I have attempted changing the file permissions through my web hosting (Godaddy) in the FTP File Manager (they can see my site just fine). I have also attempted right clicking the wp-content file through dropbox to manually change the permissions, nothing shows me any options needed to change the permissions from ‘755’ to ‘777’. I called my web hosting because i ran across a forum that indicated Godaddy.com had to change the permissions through their end, no headway there either.

The closest settings I have seen is in the FTP File Manager > wp-content > check any of the folders within such as ‘theme’ > permissions tab along top bar becomes highlighted > check boxes appear with ‘inherit’, ‘read’, ‘write’, or ‘reset all children to inherit’ .. none of which give any options to change to ‘777’.

Any help at this point is greatly appreciated.
