When I am about to "Add Media" to a post, how do I make PowerPress my default media attachment? (So that when I add an .mp3 file, it is automatically inserted by Powerpress)

There is a place in settings general where you can put I think the path to the folder where mp3 files will be stored. Give that a try and good luck.

Ok. here's the odd thing. When I go to iTunes and pull the feed down it downloads the last ep and picks up the enclosure. Down cast says no media and the other pod catchers that other people use such as catcher works. Also some android devices are not working as well when pulling down the feed, but only for this one. it works for others. I'm wondering if this is some deeper issue. Can someone test with other pod catchers and see if they can pull down the newest (only) ep there? The feed validates so I want to know what's going on here. This is a strange one.

There are two things at play here.

First, you need to decide do you want to take the native WordPress approach (just put a link to the media file in the blog post and leave it at that), or take the PowerPress approach (use the Episode Entry Box). The WordPress approach is not podcasting in any sense, it's just media on a page without any iTunes meta data. This lack of data causes the issues you're observing because it does not detect all the necessary meta data for the podcast episode media file.

So you are aware, just about all podcasting clients, applications, directories, etc.. observe the iTunes meta data. In other words, to podcast you need the iTunes attributes/meta data set for your podcast.

With PowerPress, you have to tell PowerPress what the media URL is to your podcast episode by using the Podcast Episode Box. PowerPress wlll then detect all the necessary meta data (test with the verify button).
