Max Mega Menu in Elementor header template

I: am trying to add a mega menu to an Elementor header template. The theme is GeneratePress and I have registered a new menu location, but have not added the php to the template as Elementor just used the actual menu. The mega menu is not showing up in the header. Perhaps it is because there is not a physical location in the code as the menu is added via an Elementor widget.

Can anyone suggest a way to make this work?

Unfortunately, I cannot give you a real link to the site as the dev location is on XAMPP on a local network not accessible to the public.
