Support » Plugin: WP Super Cache » Max-age not changing

  • I found out that the site is stuck at max-age=3. I found people talking about this 2 years ago, how to fix it today?

If you search for “max-age=3” in the source of the plugin you’ll find it mentioned twice. You’ll have to change that but the next time you update the plugin that change will be overwritten. There’s no setting to change it.

And why is that? Doesn’t that mean it that site is cached only for 3 seconds?

No, the page can only be cached by your browser for 3 seconds. The page is probably cached on your server for an hour or whatever timeout you have specified. It’s to encourage the browser to really reload the page if someone clicks reload. Otherwise it may get the page from local cache on your computer, and it won’t show updates.

Ah alright I see that it is even on 0 seconds with other plugins. Only files have this number higher. But I see no mention of cache-control on files, is that expected behavior?

Yeah, this plugin does nothing to files. Google for htaccess rules to change the behaviour of static files.
