Matomo misses a lot of Meta clicks

    Since about two weeks I’m having the issue that the views of the landing pages seen in Meta Ads is totally different from the views within Matomo. Like: 150 in Meta, 20 in Matomo (in one day). Before that it worked fine, almost the same. I can’t figure out what happened and I didn’t change anything. Meta has checked the account and says the Meta pixels records everything fine, the problem should be with Matomo..

    Any help?

    @martijnchel what happens when you click diagnostics? And the /path/to/wordpress/wp-content/debug.log file still doesn’t exist for you on the server?

    Does your hosting provider’s interface provide a way to see the actual error message?

    Note: regarding the site going down, I’m guessing the machine your hosting provider is using isn’t powerful enough to do that much archiving at once. Apologies for the worry this probably caused.

    I doubt that since it’s a machine that hosts more heavy sites I own, but maybe..
    I can’t access DirectAdmin right now for some reason.

    Anything else I can do to access the dashboard again?

    Unfortunately without knowing what the critical error is I can’t say what’s needed to get it loading again. Is the server configured to email you with the details of critical errors?

    Can you tell me what the PHP memory_limit is set to?

    Can you also check if the php.ini on your server has an error_log entry?

    256MB.

    I emailed the host (24h service) for the errors. I hope they’ll respond soon. I can’t access the php.ini file.

    @martijnchel You could try upping the memory_limit to 512MB and see if that fixes the issue. It’s a bit of a shot in the dark, but I can’t think of anything else that would cause such a sudden, repeatable failure like this.

    One of these Market Place Matomo plugins caused the critical error in combination with archiving I guess (I deactivated them all)
    Device Detector Cache

    @martijnchel It does seem like it could be memory_limit issue as the error message mentions. Can you try raising it to 512M? If that doesn’t work, can you try enabling the Enable archiving via HTTP requests setting in Matomo Analytics > Settings > Advanced?

    I raised it to 512 already. And HTTP archiving was on before (I turned it off afterwards).

    So, again start archiving with HTTP now?
