I’m the developer of CSV 2 POST which imports csv files. It still has a lot of improvements coming one of which is to allow import from localhost to an online blog.
The plan is to make this happen in a localhost blog BUT the actual post will be put into an online blog.
The only way I can think of doing this is to write my own functions that prep the data but I done this before as a stand alone localhost script and then decided to change the whole thing to a plugin.
I would love some advice on the best approach regarding this. Is there existing functions for using outside of wordpress for publishing posts along with all the functions for meta, custom fields etc?
Or if someone could tell me the pitfalls that would be great and 2nd time on coding a stand alone script I will take them into consideration. The issue I had before is some posts full url resulted in NOT FOUND even though it matched the “post_name” field in the database. When I got to that point and couldnt figure things out I decided WordPress only functions was the way.
However this is not so good if you want to do wordpress to wordpress interaction.
Hope that all makes sense and thanks for any time giving.
