    I notice that when I pick the masonry layout on blog options, my sidebar disappears. I’d like my sidebar to show when I click my list of posts in category. Thanks!

  • Hello there,

    Thank you for contacting us.

    Unfortunately there is no an instant option to achieve it in the theme’s customizer. However, you still have a chance to do this. The first thing to do is creating a child theme, or use our premade one if you don’t have any yet. Inside the child theme folder, you’ll need copies of home.php and archive.php template files from parent theme. Then open fine the following line of code in those two files in your code editor program.

    if ( get_theme_mod('blog_layout','classic') == 'classic' ) :
    get_sidebar();
    endif;

    To display the sidebar, replace it with:

    get_sidebar();

    Then you will need to do layout adjustment that can be done by adding the following CSS code into Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS in your site’s dashboard.

    @media only screen and (min-width:992px){

      .masonry-layout.col-md-9{
        width: 75% !important;
      }

    }

    @media only screen and (min-width:1200px){

      .masonry-layout .hentry{
        width: 400px !important;
      }

    }

    @media only screen and (min-width:992px) and (max-width:1199px){

      .masonry-layout .hentry{
        width: 330px !important;
      }

    }

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Kharis

    Thank you for this, sorry I’m very new to this, so I don’t get some parts.

    Should I activate and use the parent theme or the child theme?

    You should have both Sydney (parent theme) and child theme installed in your site. The active one must the child theme.

    Kharis

    You’re welcome!

    Feel free to open a new topic if you have any other else to ask.
