  • Resolved clausfaber

I use the UM plugin to display a public page with members. As these users should be able to be contacted by anonymous surfers, the email address is shown publicly. This is a SPAM problem, as robots scan the site.

    Is there any way …

    1) to protect the email from SPAM robots (which masking plugin intercepts output from UM?) or…

    2) provide a link to a form that can be SPAM protected, sending an email to the user?

    Many thanks,

Hi @clausfaber – The basic technique to avoid getting emails being spammed is to hide/remove the Email field from the Profile Form. Or do you want to show the public emails to Registered Members of your site?

True, true. But you are missing the point: My users WANT to be contacted by non-registered users – just they need to be humans, not bots. What way is there to make this happen?

    – either to mask the email in a way unreadable to bots, but readable to humans,
    – or to hide the email and providing a form which sends an email to THIS user (and I won’t make hundreds of different forms by hand), which can be protected by captcha.

    thanks Claus

    Hi @clausfaber

Unfortunately, we don’t have a solution at this moment to prevent bots from obtaining public email addresses.
