• I have a good friend whos comments on my blog are always marked as spam. I am using Akismet. So far I have determind that it is not her email address or her html that is causing the problem. So .. for some reason, it must be her IP. I have checked her comments as NOT SPAM over and over.. and still she is always given the boot. Any suggestions as to what we can do about this.

  • How do you know it’s not her email address or html that’s not causing the issue?

You can send in an email to support ( at ) wordpress ( dot ) com with a specific pointer to one of her comments that got caught along with her IP address and email address along with a polite request that they review the issue.

Please remember that it’s being caught for a reason.

    Hope this helps,

I sent a comment pretending I was her, while I was logged out of my blog, and used her email address and her url.. the comment went through just fine and appeared as it should. So.. maybe this is a big assumption.. but I am assuming the culprit is the IP address.

This person is new to computers and new to blogging. The only blog she has commented on is mine and I am positive she has not sent intentional spam messages. So.. why are her comments being shut out. She is actually feeling bad about this.

Thank you for the tip to email WordPress support.. I will try this.

    Good detective work. 🙂

Insert standard “I’m not an Automattic staff member” reminder.

It maybe the IP address. We get the occasional complaint over on the wp.com support forums and usually when I check, they’re coming from an ISP that is known for comment spam issue.

Akismet is pretty tight lipped on why things get caught but they will usually follow up on mishits like that.
