All was and working in my site but after installing Hummingbird CHAOS started! Site speed fell from 95 to 30 and after the plugin deactivation, my pages displayed the old cached files. I removed wp-cache.php, there is no define( ‘WP_CACHE’, true ); in my wp-config, I cleaned all Hummingbird cache before disabling it, I cleared my browser cache, tested my index home page in Adsense and still got the old page, and now I’m geting 404 erros on visitors when they try to access my site because their browser looks for .js files stored in wp-content/uploads/hummingbird-assets/ that don’t exist! I looked inside my HTML code and didn’ find any reference to Hummingbird’s .fs files. Now I’m loosing money because ads aren’t displayed…

Please, can someone help or give me a clue on where to start to fix this?

OK, fixed it!!! Seems to be ok, at least for now… The culprit was the PWA that cached Humminbirds js files. For those who might have the same or similar you have to enable and disable all cache features in any plugin you’re using. I had disabled PWA plugin and then turned on but didn’t work.

But even though it wasn’t Hummingbird’s total fault, now that I disabled it and fixed the issue, I tested my site’s speed at GTmetrix and the speed is now higher than before! Without Hummingbird or any other cache plugin I got 89%… I am not saying that the plugin is bad or has problems, may be I didn’t know how to use it correctly. Eventualy, the owners should make a more detailed instruction on how to use their plugin.

GOOD LUCK to anyone who’s having problems with cache. I personal advise is: Don’t do nothing! Don’t go crazy and install the first plugin you see. Just because thousands of people installed it doesn’t mean that’s gonna work for you. The best is to check your HTML code, see if it’s ok by using free online HTML like ‘freeformatter’ and use asyn or parse in scripts… Take a little time to read ‘recent’ articles about the matter. Don’t stick to the first solution you read. See what other people are doing about the problem. Some times just a little code here and there will solve the issue.

If you’re reading this and you’re not the developer of the plugin, I’m sure you are having a problem. So, good luck!

    Hi @funnyquotes,

Thanks for the feedback. You are absolutely right – you should not install the first plugin and enable everything. Every site is unique, every situation requires a custom approach. Some websites require page caching, but many hosts already offer their implementation, so enabling both features can result in errors. We are working on improving documentation and providing better instructions to users on how to fix specific problems. If you share a link to your site, I can give you some tips on how you can utilize Hummingbird to improve the score.

    Best regards,
    Anton

@funnyquotes I am having the same issues as you did. How did you correct those errors? None of my JS are loading after deleting Hummingbird.
