I manage the back-end for a client, a touring recording artist. He publishes most of the content at this site, with the events manager plugin mainly populating here: http://woodpigeon-songbook.com/shows

You wouldn’t be able to tell from this link, because it looks normal… but several past events are not showing up. They are not out of order, or showing up improperly, they simply are not there. Mirroring what you see here, the missing events are also omitted or not visible in the Events Manager plugin via the WordPress dashboard / admin panels. However, when I use phpMyAdmin, I can search the Event Manager posts in the WP database, and I can find every single event that has been recorded, included the ones neither showing on the website, nor on the WP dashboard.

Issues that I suspect may play into this:

    1. My customer (who is posting the event data) enters many of these events non-chronologically – he may have an impromptu event, or may simply be entering event information after a tour of multiple events. Thus his event posting order is not necessarily chronological.

    2. Event date changes – again this will probably affect the chronological continuity in a way that I suspect may compromise the post visibility somehow.

    3. Location changes – I noticed a few recent instances where the database contained multiple tables for misspelled venues, changed addresses, or updated venue details when they became known at a later date. Duplicates may exist, and conflict, thus preventing them from being visible in the WP dashboard / website. I also noted that the plugin offers the capability of setting up new venues / locations prior to publishing the event. I suspected that this may create unpredictable or undesirable conflicts between post_id / location_id / group_id tables.

    4. Me messing with the database – I am a novice in terms of dbadmin, so I may have complicated the issue from the start. However, I haven’t broken the website, or the WP dashboard, and wherever I’ve tested a tweak, I’ve done my best to return it to its original state (including using backups).

    5. Updating plugins and WP engine… seems like this was the beginning of these problems. But as far as I can tell, both of the latest versions are cooperating. No other plugin seems to be messing with this plugin, since I’ve disabled all the others and the problem still exists.

Any help is appreciated! If this proves worth my while, I will probably upgrade to Events Manager Pro.

just to confirm, are you using recurring events? also, you are able to see the missing events in the database but it’s not showing in the admin-dashboard or frontend and can I know what is your current theme? eg. divi themes

    Hi Angelo,

No, this does not use recurring events, since this is for a touring recording/performing artist with no repeating patterns in their performances.

Yes, you are correct that missing events are visible in the database, but not in the admin/dashboard/frontend.

Current theme is customized by an independent designer.

This sounds like a possible conflict caused by your theme or another plugin. To check if it is, can you test with all other plugins deactivated and while running the default WordPress theme?

I have ruled out all possible plugin or theme conflicts. It has to be something else.

Could you explain exactly what you did for:

    4. Me messing with the database

Directly editing the database is bad idea unless you know exactly what you’re doing because many tables are interconnected with each other in the code.
