Do you plan on adding to your excellent plugin the same functionality as in the plugin (has not been updated in 2 years): Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-theme-and-plugin-upgrades/

It is about the ability to install (eg Envato Elements downloads) licensed plugins or themes. They cannot be installed automatically, but still require manual installation. With this functionality your plugin would be complete.

    Hi,

Apologies for the delay in replying.

I have added your suggestion to our feature requests list, and notified our developers.
I’m afraid that we can’t guarantee a release at this time.

In my opinion, your business goals are more important than my needs. You have a unique opportunity to take over + 200,000 users of a plugin that has not been updated for 2 years, is still needed, and will stop working in a moment.

    It’s pure profit.

    Hi @schuerich,

The description of “Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades” says that it enables uploading a ZIP to update a theme / plugin. Is this the functionality you’re looking for?

    Hi @marcusig,

Overall I’m not sure how the plugin works, but over 200,000 users use it. The plugin has not been updated for 2 years. I have a subscription to Envato Elements and I need to install plugins or themes manually because in this case licensed plugins or themes cannot update automatically. The same problem has + 200,000 users, if not more.

Add a secure update option in your plugin and you will gain an additional +200,000 users because that plugin is about to disappear or it turns out that it is not compatible with WP or PHP.

The plugin backs up in ZIP format and adds it to the media library, but I never needed this ZIP. It definitely helps with the update.

I’m still not sure to understand why you use this plugin.

Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades’s description is this:

WordPress has a built-in feature to install themes and plugins by supplying a zip file. Unfortunately, you cannot upgrade a theme or plugin using the same process. Instead, WordPress will say “destination already exists” when trying to upgrade using a zip file and will fail to upgrade the theme or plugin.

Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades fixes this limitation in WordPress by automatically upgrading the theme or plugin if it already exists.

This functionality has been added to WordPress 5 or one of the minor releases:

As you can see in this screenshot, you can update a theme or plugin by uploading a Zip file.

So unless if there’s an other functionality to this plugin which is not obvious, the core of it is now included in WordPress, making it obsolete.

    Or am I missing something?

    Marc
