# Manual Excerpt issues

 * I’ve been having issues with the excerpt…meaning, it just doesn’t work for me.
   I’m sure there’s something I’m completely overlooking but as of right now I’m
   not sure how to fix it. I use the Excerpt box inside WordPress Admin, but I still
   see the entire post on the front page. I’ve even tried plugins like WordPress
   Editor. I’ve looked around and haven’t been able to find any solutions.

 * You may need to edit your index.php template file to use `<?php the_excerpt();?
   >` instead of <?php the_content();?>`. Or you could use the`<!–more–>` tag when
   creating/editing posts where you want your post excerpt/summary to end.
