• My hosting only has version 3.2.1 to install which I have done. Before I create a site I would like to upgrade to a more recent version. They say that upgrading can only be done manually so I need to know if I can just delete the old version entirely and add the new files or how can I go about this. The documentation that I read stated upgrading little by little but that seems like a lot of work when there is nothing on the site yet. Any help would be appreciated

  • If you want to start over again and not save anything that’s there now, you just need to delete all of the WordPress files and drop all of the tables in the database that you’ve got set up. After that you can upload the new up-to-date files and do a new install and you’ll be ready to start again.

Just thought I’d add that, since your web host is holding on to an old version of WP, it might be a good idea to just make sure their hosting environment meets the minimum requirements (PHP and MySQL versions) for the current (most secure) version of WP to run as smoothly as possible.
