Managing widget content from page screen

Hello all,

I want to revive a question that was asked a year ago regarding the possibility of integrating the widget control area into the page edit screen. I’m running a website using WordPress as a CMS with many customized widgets for dozens of pages, and it would be very convenient to be able to control the content of associated widgets from via the page/post edit screen. Is there a plugin that allows you to do this, or some existing code scaffolding that I could modify to implement this kind of functionality?
