Support » Fixing WordPress » managing a development and production site

  • Hi,

I’m new to WordPress and have successfully setup a development site on my pc as well as a production version with a web host.
My strategy was to make posts, css & theme modifications, and just about anything in my development environment. Test it out, then upload the files, including the .sql file to me production site. But now I realize that this might not be necessary. I may not really have to upload the .sql file just make post right in production.
How do the experts handle this?
Is there a kind of normal workflow that I could adopt?

    Your answers are appreciated.

  • I use my local install exclusively for developing and testing themes and all kind of tricks 🙂
As for the posts/Pages – I write everything online. OK, I admit, sometimes I write them in a plain text editor and then copy into the text input, but then I Have to deal with the formatting quicktags, so it’s double amount of work.
