Given that no one see can see this screenshot, it might help if you described what it is that you’re trying to “manage”.
The screenshot is from WP’s screenshot files and is found here: http://codex.wordpress.org/File:managefiles.png
I’m not really trying to manage anything. As a WP newbie, I am going through the various documents, following along with the instructions in my dashboard to familiarize myself. A couple of times, in reference to the panels, Administration/Manage/APPLICABLEPANEL/ has been mentioned. (e.g. see the references to Manage/Categories, Manage/Posts & Manage/pages here under Step 4: http://codex.wordpress.org/New_To_WordPress_-_Where_to_Start#Step_Four_-_Set_Up_WordPress).
And I can never find a Manage subpanel.

Thanks Ryan149. I am able to successfully login to my domain via the http://yourdomain.com/wp-admin link in my browser. And I have been following along in my dashboard with all of the instructions.
However, every time a Manage subpanel is referenced there are no clear directions as to where it is. Step 4 of the “New to WordPress – Where to Start” that I referenced in an above post, mentions Manage/Posts, Manage/Categories & Manage/Pages; however, in my dashboard (based on the Classic Theme), I am able to access the Posts & Pages panels directly without going through a Manage panel. Also, I can access the Categories under the Post panel. This is just one example of where I have encountered the Manage panel/subpanel and it does not match what I’m looking at.
The reason I am even questioning this is b/c I want to be sure I have everything installed & set-up as it should be and am not missing anything.
Hmmm, maybe the documentation is outdated? And there is no longer a Manage panel to get to another subpanel? I don’t know… It just doesn’t make sense when I’m trying to follow along and learn WP when the instructions do not match my dashboard. 🙁
The pages you refer to are referencing WordPress 2.6. In WordPress 2.7 or above, the Admin area was complete remodelled. There’s no longer a separate Manage pane. Everything you need to do with Posts or Categories can be found under the Posts sub-menu. Ditto for Pages. The old Presentation options have now been replaced with an Appearance menu.
Thank you, ESMI! It’s a small thing; but, it has been causing me no end of consternation as I try to learn this (new for me) program.
Really appreciate your response.
I do appreciate how daunting it can be when you’re starting from scratch. Even very small “issues” can be unnerving.
Have a look at http://wordpress.tv
I think you’ll find that some of the videos on there will show the more recent versions of WP and might help you to feel more confident about finding your way around.
For the first time since I’ve started this WP journey, I’m breathing easier. I’m foreseeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks esmi!
