    Hi,

    I currently have 2 attributes being 1.size and 2.design.
So when I go into variations I basically create a product with chosen (size) and (design) and then allocate stock quantity for this variation.
The issue I have and where the confusion lies is that I want to update a different product to include 2 attributes, but only want to track stock by the 1st attribute.

So I would allocate all stock to the listed (sizes) and have no stock tracking on (design).
Customers would be able to select their (size) which has stock tracking and then (design) which has no stock tracking. So in essence stock tracking is on the parent, not the child.

(Design) will be unlimited and available as long as we have stock in chosen (size)

How do I achieve this please?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @zdriver,

WooCommerce doesn’t support stock tracking for only one attribute within a variation by default. Stock is always managed at the variation level.

If you need to track stock only by size while keeping design unlimited, you might want to explore third-party plugins like Product Add-Ons. Alternatively, a developer could customize this behavior to fit your needs.

    Thank you.

I left shopify for a better product and while woo is great in many ways and I have been super picky on what apps I install and kept it to a minimum there is too many apps already and the wp-admin is ridiculously slow. So adding more apps does not excite me.
This is where woocommerce fails badly, while shopify admin remains super fast.
I have explored this with support, my dev and host and told this is woo 🙁
In addition having come from a dev background, it does surprise me how lacking Woocommerce is with some seriously simple functionality – to the point that again shopify admin is putting it to shame.
Not what you want to see from your chosen platform.

    Hi @zdriver,

To clarify, WooCommerce itself isn’t slow—it loads quickly. However, adding third-party plugins, especially poorly optimized ones, or using a heavy theme can impact your site’s speed.

Regarding features, WooCommerce is open-source and continuously improved based on merchant requests. If there’s a feature you need that isn’t already available and you prefer not to purchase a plugin for it, you can submit a feature request here: WooCommerce Feature Requests. If it gets enough votes, it may be implemented.

    Thank you for your understanding!

Hi, I never thought I’d be comparing woo to shopify, but order management is super poor in woocommerce, even basics like editing an order, adding new products and lack of ability to add products and send request to pay difference. Woo lacks, shopify does it great. And the sad thing is it isnt that hard to achieve.
With apps/plugins, I can add the same ones or similar ones to shopify and it doesnt impact admin speed whatsoever.
Yes each app I have added ads a slowdown to Woo, so to say its not woo is just an excuse. There should be a standard that forces devs to optimise their apps in order to avoid this.
For all its greatness there are quite a few big negatives that just shouldnt be there 🙁 and takes the shine of whats otherwise a great product.

    Hi @zdriver,

I understand your concern. As mentioned earlier, if you’d like a feature that isn’t currently available in the plugin, please submit a feature request. If you need help with any other issue, feel free to start a new topic.

In the meantime, you can share your feedback by leaving a review for the WooCommerce core plugin here: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/woocommerce/reviews/?filter=5.
