Support » Localhost Installs » MAMP- No WP Dashboard CSS

  • Hi,
I’m a newbie at web development. I want to mirror my live wordpress site onto a local development server with MAMP. I have successfully installed and configured MAMP (document root: /Applications/MAMP/htdocs) and added a folder local_db, to which I have copied the contents of my live site’s public_html folder. I created a database in MAMP called local_db and imported my live site’s .sql database. I edited config-php to reflect my local server, user and password, and I used a script from this website: to change to http://localhost:8888/local_db in all my files. My actual website appears to work correctly on my local server, including links, but the wordpress dashboard lacks all CSS and doesn’t work right. The URLs in General>Settings are correct for the local server. I’m stumped.

I’d really appreciate any help- thanks!

    Have you reviewed Moving_WordPress?

Yes, I did- that’s actually where I found the ‘Search and Replace for WordPress Databases Script.’ Not sure if the Moving_Wordpress article really addresses my specific problem though. My site is successfully running on my local server- it’s just the wp dashboard that displays incorrectly (though it functions fine).

I’ve also looked at this thread, which is exactly my same problem. My dashboard resembles the one posted here in this thread.

This post had some promising fixes, but none worked for me. I tried disabling all plugins, changing themes, reinstalling wordpress from my dashboard, and manually replacing both my wp_admin and wp_includes folders from a fresh download of wordpress 3.4.2, but no luck.
