 * I’m following [this guide](http://www.tuaw.com/2009/10/09/getting-started-with-wordpress-and-mamp-on-your-mac/)
   to setup MAMP, and I’m stuck on step 5. When I try to create a config file, it
   asks for my database name, MySQL username and password, database host, and table
   prefix.
 * I’m utterly confounded. I don’t think I have a MySQL username and password.

 * Step 2) of that tutorial indicates that you need to create a database and give
   it a unique name.
 * In Step 5) of the tutorial, the reference is made to the name of the database
   you created in step 2, and the database username “root” with a password of “root”.
 * _“Database Name: arresteddevelopment (or whichever name you chose for your database)

   User Name: root Password: root “
