Since the latest update to Sucuri, I’ve received an error message when trying to run the standard malware scan. It appears immediately upon starting the scan in a banner box at the top of the page.

Sucuri: Something went wrong with an API call (unknown action): SSL: certificate subject name ‘*.mycloudproxy.com’ does not match target host name ‘sitecheck.sucuri.net’

  • I fixed this error in the development version of the plugin [1], but it is not public yet, so you can opt to install the development version or change the value of the option “API request with SSL” to “Stop peer’s cert verification” located in the general settings page of the plugin.

This will force the plugin to send the HTTP requests to the API service over “http” instead of “https”, this is not recommended but to really fix the issue you will need to contact your hosting provider to make some changes in the server, specifically related with the OpenSSL software, and generally they will not allow you to do that (at least that is what I have seen with other clients), so just follow my instructions to change that option and everything will start working correctly again.
