Support » Theme: OceanWP » Malicious File Found on Child Theme

  • My client’s website has a malicious file present (“/yourwell/wp-content/themes/oceanwp-child-theme-master/functions.php “).

Has anyone else had this type of file on your website? Her hosting company recommended SiteLock. Is this necessary or should I just go to File Manager and delete the file? Help is appreciated!

  • Hello @charique,

I do not see how our functions.php file can be malicious since it only includes a few lines of codes to query OceanWP CSS, for instance. However, the proper way to install such a child theme would be oceanwp-child and not oceanwp-child-theme-master, perhaps that is where the issue is.

Is there anything else I can help you with? Please do not hesitate to reply to this support forum if you have any other questions.

    Best regards

Thanks, I installed the child theme per Ocean’s instructions. This was done last year with no issues until now.
