    Hello,

I would like to create a forum using WordPress… rather like this support forum!

However, I haven’t been able to find any forum-style themes.

As near as I can tell, WordPress is capable of doing everything Forum-ish so long as you program the theme and some plugins to do so. However, I would really prefer to not rewrite somethign that already exists, especially if it’s as polished and tested as this support forum.

Any hints? Currenlty I’m having to do a lot of rewriting just to get add forum-like details to a list of categories. The category output function (and classes) are pretty hard-wired.

    thanks!

  • this forum is done with bbpress.

Yes and bbPress is from the makers of WordPress and can be integrated into WordPress as well.

wp-forum is a very good plugin for starting a forum in your website.

    Just to follow up:

wp-forum looks very powerful and good. This might be the best option for a forum within the blog.

bbPress looks fantastic, and I like the idea of a made-to-order product. This looks like the best forum solution. I still have to explore the options for integration with wordpress.

I’ll probably only be able to pick one after I figure out the final shape of my plan.

Thanks a whole bunch for quickly giving 2 great answers!
