Making site work in IE explorer?

  • I don’t like internet explorer, but realize many people use it. My site looks like garbage in it, menus are all displayed on front page. My site looks great in any other browser. Is this just how it’s going to be with the html I’m using on the site or is there a way I can make it look better in internet explorer?

  • The only way to improve that is by improving the html and what needs changing is going to depend entirely on the theme that you’ve got installed. If it’s not working properly in IE, then the easiest solution is to change themes to one that does work. You can install a theme and then preview it within the dashboard, without having to actually activate it.

One place to start is by validating the site — if the pages look okay in other browsers but not IE, it’s very often coding errors. See this for info about how to validate:

BTW, if you have errors that are due to your content, changing themes won’t usually fix or eliminate them…

Thanks for the input everyone! I’m pretty new to making websites (with the exception of a badly made html one in the late 90s) and have to maintain this for work.

I’m working on validating now with the plugin validated. It’s already finding lots of errors, hope they are not hard to fix!
