  • Ok, what I am trying to do is to make the text container semi-transparent on a theme. I was thinking of buying the Streamline theme from the people over at Studiopress, but I have been playing with the CSS before I spend the money to see if I can get it to do what I want, and I have to admit, I am lot.

This is the theme I am talking about…

The background I was going to use is like a large watermark that will remain fixed when the page scrolls up and down and I was hoping that I could make the text boxes have that light transparent look so it would be visible underneath it.

I can remove the boxes all together, but can’t figure out how to adjust their opaqueness… *pulls hair out*

Thanks in advance for any help!

You all rock, I know you will be able to point me in the right direction!

  • Hi

I believe you can accomplish what you want by assigning a background color of transparent to div class=”postarea” in that theme.

The front page seems to have only one div for the whole column.

The “transparent” lets whatever color or image is below that element to be seen through the element. If the underlying image is too dark then you should introduce transparency in the image itself (in Photoshop or whatever) so it is just the lightness you want in the final product.

I have been trying like crazy to get my navbar to show transparency behind the actual graphic. But I always get that ugly grey. The image file for the navbar.png is bigger than my navbar itself so i would like to show the desert picture behind the navbar. it would save me tons of time instead of having to match up every background pic i use. Please help!
    Thanks in advance!
