Making equal width columns on a page

  • Complete newbie in need of help! I have managed to set up two columns within my page but am confused as to why the right hand one is so much narrower than the left. I used the code below which seems to make sense so can’t understand why there is such a difference in column width. Any help would ne much appreciated.

    1. Format your WordPress Pages using the following HTML code
    <div class=’embed’>
    Left Column Text
    </div>
    <div class=’embed’>
    Right Column Text
    </div>
    <div style=’clear:both;’></div>
    2. Add this CSS code to your theme’s stylesheet.
    .embed {
    width:47%;
    float:left;
    padding:0 0 0 10px;
    margin:0 0 20px 0;
    }

    Without seeing the page, no way to answer something like this. If you can’t post a link, try using Firebug to look at the page and see what is affecting the widths of the columns.
