    Thanks for this plug-in!

I am working on building a course but I do not see the instructions on your main page for how to make the course live on my site and how potential students register/pay.

Do I create a “course” page and then add the promo text and then is there short code that I embed on the page that creates a “register” button that prompts potential students to register and pay for the course? Is there a registration form they complete that we can customize so we can get some background information on the students?

    Hi JoniFromCareerMinded,

Thanks for your concern. You can create a course, with payment or free, create options require registration (by default LearnPress using registration of WordPress) or not, and the course always has an enrolled button. Still now, courses will be created in back-end, we are trying to make a add-on to make courses in front-end, it will be easier for users when create a learning system.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Best regards,

    Ken

    Thanks Ken!

I discovered that under settings that there is a Learnpress setting link and a tab for “page”. I understand now that when I am ready for the course to go live, it will go to my “Courses” page if that is what I have chosen from the drop down menu when selecting the page in settings. Correct?

I also needed to enter in my PayPal info so that it is linked to a payment processor. You may want to add these steps to the instructions as others may not realize that a settings link is not with the main LearnPress side menu but added to your theme’s settings page.

My only issue now is that I am trying to post a “Coming soon” message on my Courses page but I can’t seem to get the text to show. When I am logged in, I see an archives page which I guess is generated when students register for a course and then login (as I registered in my course, I see it listed when I am logged in). But, when I am logged out, there is no page at all – the text I entered isn’t showing and the bottom menu is right up at the top…no page at all. So strange.

The other issue is that the course pages and the archive registration is not displaying well on the page. It is as if there are no margins at all.

    Thanks,
    Joni

    Hi Joni ,

Yes, you can assign a page to be courses page. Just like Blog (posts page) in WordPress.

After activate LearnPress plugin, a message will pop up to strongly recommend users set up somethings for LearnPress. And it’s really easy to set up PayPal in payments section.

Like I said, course page just like Blog page, that means course page will display all courses instead of its page content. But we consider creating some useful Shortcodes for displaying courses.

LearnPress does not support all themes, that is why it display incorrect with some themes (margin issues…). We are trying make it better and better in displaying.

    Best regards,

    Ken

Okay, thanks Ken. So if I understand you, you are saying that when I activated LearnPress at the start there were prompts to get me to set up the courses page and payment section? I must have missed that. I still think it would be helpful to add a section on set up to your instructions.

Shortcode would be great so that the courses display like a catalog.

And yes, I saw the thread about “style” and assume that is another way to say that the page layout isn’t working in my theme. That is a real shame as I really don’t want to change themes at the point. I’ve spent hours customizing my theme. 🙁

There must be a way to help us get the style to work on the themes we prefer. No?

    Hi, Joni

LearnPress allows a theme to override LearnPress templates. Check that link below, it will show you how to do that.

First of all, thanks for your plugin. It’s great.

Secondly, Could you please explain how people create their own account con WordPress?

At first I thought the plugin would ask for username, password and email, and then people would be able to pay and receive their información after paying, so I was going crazy looking for that option. Any help is appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Hi Jorge,

Firstly, your site should allows users to register. To enable user registration simply go to Settings » General and scroll down to Membership section. Check the box next to ‘Anyone can register’ option.

After that, an user can create an account in your site, with username, email, and password, then user logs into your system.

In courses payment progress, for example with PayPal, the user just provides some information to checkout courses, like PayPal email, PayPal password. If progress succeeds, the user will able to access the courses.

    Best regards,

    Ken

Thank you Ken, I guess I just redirect them to the login page then, the same one I use to access WP.

    Kind regards
    Jorge

Thanks Ken, I think I did it right.

Now, my problem is I don’t know if learn press would work just fine with simple membership. I’m doing a test right now but I can’t seem to delete the profile page for learnpress.

We are developing an add-on for LearnPress which integrates with Paid Memberships Pro plugin.

    Hi Ken,

I can’t make other pages go full width. how to enable it?

    Plugin Author Ken Nguyen

    (@kendy73)

    Hi damnels,

The way LearnPress templates display depend on your current theme. There are no options to make it full width or not. But you can make some custom style to make it display as what you want.

    Ken
