Support » Plugin: Dynamic Image Resizer » Makes so much more sense

  • I wish WordPress did this by default. Keeps your site from adding a ton of images for every upload, and removes the penalty of adding many custom image sizes if needed for your design.

I’ve sadly started having issues with this plugin (pdf uploads causing error, manual image crop plugin won’t play nice, and most recently images just stopped resizing at all). So, back to letting WordPress spit out a ton of image sizes on each upload.

Dynamic image resizing may eventually make it into core, but this plugin is a proof of concept only, never really intended to be used on live sites.

Use it if you like, but it is definitely not without its problems.

Thanks for the reply, Otto. Understood, and I hope it does make it into core at some point, at least as an option.

For sites that have several image sizes defined, many of which are rarely used, it’s definitely the preferred method of handling image uploads.
