You can just make the “position: fixed;” with a top: 0px;
Like this this:
.normal-menu {
position: relative;
top: 0px;
}
with .normal-menu being change to whatever yours is for your menu.
Are you familiar with CSS at all?
but my menu is at the top all the time. What you want is a sticky menu…which would be more difficult.

I have a WordPress site with the exact requirements for a sticky menubar.
I solution I used is described in full here.
There is a simple sticky menu plugin ment to be used with twentythirteen theme, but should be possible to use it with another themes as well. Use code from plugin to get idea how to put this inside your child template if you want, or install plugin.
