Make Posts Opaque Except For Featured Image And Text?

Could you tell me which css classes I’d have to add css opacity to make the background of the posts opaque or transparent except for the featured image and text, buttons, tables etc. (basically only what is currently white). I want to do this for both the homepage and single posts. Not too concerned with single pages but that would be fine too. I tried a couple different classes but they make the whole inner section opaque including the text and featured image. Would really appreciate any help, thank you and amazing theme btw (literally a perfect match for this site)!
