• Resolved glazergallery

If there is more than one image on a product page (and that is the case for virtually all our products), we would like the left and right arrows to stay on when the Lightbox for a given page is open, even if the cursor is either not moved, or is moved out of the browser window. In other words, the arrows would never time out. To see what I mean, open the link I have provided to a Product Page. Click on the main image. After a few seconds, the arrows disappear. Try the same thing and move the cursor off the window. Same thing happens. This is a problem — even the staff who works at the gallery is getting confused by this, so I can only imagine what’s happening to people unfamiliar with the site. We want the arrows to come on with the Lightbox opens, and stay on until the Lightbox is closed. Thanks for your help.

I took a look at your site and I see that the arrows on the lightbox are now visible at all times, so you may have already resolved this question.

This would likely be a setting in your theme or you could change some of the CSS code for the lightbox in order to make the arrows always visible. As I’m seeing your lightbox arrows consistently “on,” I think perhaps you have already figured this out. 🙂 Let us know, though, if you need further assistance!

They are most definitely not on at all times. They fade out after a few seconds, whether the mouse is in the browser window or moved off the browser window. And we don’t want that.

Ah, thank you for letting me know!

I just checked the code on your site and it looks like those arrows are produced by the PhotoSwipe plugin you’re using. They are not related to WooCommerce. So, this would be a question for the PhotoSwipe plugin support page here:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/lightbox-photoswipe/

I’m going to go ahead and mark this thread as resolved. If you have any other questions please feel free to start a new thread.

Wait, what?! I am NOT using the Photoswipe plugin! I’ve never even heard of it. Please explain. How can you mark this thread as resolved? If you’re supposed to be a “Happiness Engineer” you have distinctly missed the mark.

After investigating further I have inquired of the makers of our theme and they said that while it is true that I did not install the Photoswipe plugin, it is a hidden part of theme.

@m155y5: The behavior I described has nothing to do with Photoswipe: it’s the default behavior of WooCommerce. Don’t believe me? Go to the Storefront demo! https://themes.woocommerce.com/storefront/product/build-your-dslr/#camera-body

And as far as we’re concerned, a highly problematic default, which we have observed confuses people. We want the arrows to stay on all the time, even if the mouse is not moved. I suppose since you were in such a rush to prematurely declare this “resolved” you might ignore this, but I want anyone else who reads this thread to know you did not address the issue, nor take the trouble to really understand the problem in the first place.

@glazergallery I am closing this topic and I have flagged your account temporarily. That just means that your post will need to be approved and @ notifications from you will not work.

Here’s why: you’re a little too entitled for a volunteer support forum. I’ll provide a few examples.

If you’re supposed to be a “Happiness Engineer” you have distinctly missed the mark.

    And

Wait, what?! I am NOT using the Photoswipe plugin! I’ve never even heard of it.

Still later from you after you communicated with theme author:

After investigating further I have inquired of the makers of our theme and they said that while it is true that I did not install the Photoswipe plugin, it is a hidden part of theme.

The topic was marked resolved as a result of your reply to your own topic. This is your topic, use the sidebar and mark it unresolved. That’s all.

Now your new reply to your own topic is this?

I suppose since you were in such a rush to prematurely declare this “resolved” you might ignore this, but I want anyone else who reads this thread to know you did not address the issue, nor take the trouble to really understand the problem in the first place.
