I just upgraded to 4.0 today I hung back from upgrading after major problems with redirects on 3.9

I run several Multisite Networks which were all running 3.8 perfectly. After updating them I now wish I hadnt been so hasty.

The installed plugin menu has vanished
Also now the option to create a new site has vanished.

    Any suggestions?

Sorry what menu is that? Where?

Can you get to the /wp-admin/network/ section at all?

    (Also ALWAYS test before upgrading!)

So although I have several plugins loaded which were functioning before, now when I mouse over the plugins menu just below Appearance, only Blog Vault shows in the sub-menu. Clicking on the Plugins menu takes me straight to Blog Vault instead of the overview of all the installed Plugins.

Re, testing: lesson learnt the hard way! Doh!

    I have found the solution:

The reason I upgraded was because what I thought was a secure WP site of mine got hacked. Nothing dramatic was done, a couple of links were pointed to another site. Very subtle but unsettling to find. So I decided to harden my setup. Upgrading to the latest WP was step one.

I upgraded all passwords next and I also followed the guidance I found in many places on how to edit my username via phpMyAdmin.

This does work and I was able to login using the new username, but the user is no longer Super Admin and has an impaired view of plugins.

I have reverted to the original username and issue is solved. NOT a bug with Benny 🙂

I would still like to edit my username, but clearly this requires additional edits in the DB for it to be successful on a Multi-site – any ideas?

You also need to make sure you edit the superadmin value in wp_options. Generally … just make a new user. It’s easier.

I was running 2 wordpress multi-site sub-domain base in WP 3.7.4. After upgrading to the latest version (4.0) the sub-domains are not working at all. Whenever I am trying to open the sub domain it is returning me to the main domain.

Can any one tell me why this is not working after up-gradation? What do we need to look for to make this working properly.

    Need urgent help.
