Hey I have the exact same problem but did not managed to make it work.

    I tried:

    1) Deleting the cache with a plugin.
    2) Searching for .maintenance file ( did not find it ), i checked the hidden files too.
    3) change the wp-activate thing. (did not work)

    I am honestly lost…

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • @cosmiin Did you ever get it fixed? I have a client with the same issue. Installed the plugin, plugin wouldn’t turn off on the front facing side, so they deleted it. I’ve tried all of the same troubleshooting steps as you and am running out of options.

And why is your issue marked Resolved – I see your page is still in maintenance mode. Lol.

I literally had to some crazy stuff in order to get back my website.

They way I made it work was the following.

Went on FTP, changed the WP CONTENT folder name. This basically deactivated all the Plugins. After that I just changed it back and deleted this tech mess.

It’s on maintenance mode but with a different plugin.

and by the way, i don’t know why it got tagged with resolved. It was never solved. Nobody reached out.
