Mailchimp plugin incompatible with Free downloads plugin

Hi,
I’m trying to provide free PDFs at my site as long as users sign up with their name and email. I set up the Mailchimp plugin as well as the EDD Free download plugin to skip the payment process: http://vafpress.com/plugins/edd-free-download/

However, this cancels out the Mailchimp plugin because the form is provided during the “checkout process.”

Is there a way to integrate the Mailchimp sign-up form (name/email) before loading the files page for downloading?
